Well, we haven’t turned too much of a corner.  It seems my youngest has his 5th ear infection in 6 months, so he is scheduled for ear tubes next month.  Yes it was a tough decision but when he failed a simple earing test, I knew it was the right choice.

On a knitting note, I bought the latest addition of Vogue knitting, and knit up one of the sweaters, with a few minor alterations, I can’t wait to finish it and get a photo up, I will not be wearing it, although it does fit great.  I just need to finish the neckline, it’s a little too plunging for my taste!!  Anyway other than that I am finishing up another felted bag and my daughter’s bolero sweater, just a couple of  weeks until our vacation, I am looking forward to this one, just to hopefully get away from all of the illnesses that we have had.  Thanks for stopping by, Krista.

Wow, I can’t believe it has been that long since I last wrote here.  I guess it was a pretty crazy end of the year for 2009.  My poor daughter had H1N1 pneumonia and that was pretty scary.  I had 16 people in my house for Thanksgiving, yes they all slept over, no I am not sure how, but it happened!!  We survived Christmas and a huge snowstorm, actually a few of them.  Needless to say we are ready to have Spring show up.  I ended up teaching 3 knitting classes.  They went really well, and I have a new knitting addict on board.  I am still teaching some knitting and that has been great fun.  I am working on a bolero sweater for my daughter right now, it might still be a little cool for Easter down in Kiawah, so I decided to knit one up, and it matches her dress exactly!!  I can’t wait to finish it and get some pictures up with her in it.  I am hoping that we have turned a corner on illnesses and craziness and that I can get back to regularly updating with photos.  Thanks for sticking with me.  Krista

I have been thinking of putting together a knitting class for people in the area, sort of like a learn how to knit and have a nice wearable completed in a couple of classes.  I was thinking scarves, probably three different styles, patterns that I have written and donating half of the money to my son’s preschool, where I hope to get the most “recruits”.  Just wondering if anyone has done something like this, and what you think about it, pros, cons, anything would be helpful.  That’s it for tonight, pictures tomorrow, I promise, thanks for stopping by, Krista.

Alright here is the picture of my niece’s quilt.  These are all her memories and that is all she gave me, she loves it, so that makes me very happy.  My only disappointment in the whole process was not being able to give it to her in person, oh and having to clean my iron a lot. :)   The quilt measures 70X90, so just shy of a twin size, pretty good size for a lap quilt though.  Thanks for stopping by, Krista.

Alright I know it has been way too long but I have a couple of excuses.  My daughter started kindergarten on Aug 18th, it is all day, so leading up to that we had a lot of vacationing to do.  I also finished my nieces quilt.  I am really proud of it, once she gets it, I will post a picture of the finished product.  I have also been working on a sweater for myself, and ordering some lopi yarn for my husband for a sweater for him in the fall.  Boy it seems like that is knocking on my door already.  I woke up this morning and it was 45 degrees outside.  Yes you read that right, and I live in the Shenandoah Valley, its not like we live in the north.  So I plan on getting here more often with more photos and patterns, just give me a couple of days to get it all together and thanks for stopping by, Krista.

Ok, so I am still on vacation but have managed to finish my daughter’s lopi sweater, she has tried it on too, and I made a matching hat to boot. I am also working on my recycled bag and my shawl, but it is slow going for both of those. I have found that I am addicted to those lopi sweaters, they knit up so fast, the color changes keep it interesting and its not hard to follow the chart. I can’t wait to get home so I can post the photos. Thanks for stopping by, Krista

I finished my daughter’s lopi sweater.  I personally think it is beautiful.  I only wish that I had taken pictures of the progress along the way, I do have pictures to post when I get back from vacation next month of the finished sweater but boy am I excited that I did it.  The weather here is sooo hot, for the next three days its supposed to be around 100, so we will most likely be spending it at the pool or beach.  My kids are having a great time and that makes me really happy.  I have been managing to knit about an hour each night, my hand feels great down here too.  I hope to hit a couple of my favorite knit shops while I am here and check out what they have to offer, ok what I can buy, who am I kidding.  Well that is it for tonight, thanks for stopping by, Krista.

Well, I am all packed for my summer vacation in Kiawah. Unfortunately for me and you, I packed my camera. I have pictures of my daughter’s lopi sweater. It is so great looking. I have all the body and one sleeve done, and the other sleeve is on the needles. I will keep taking pictures and post them when I get back from vacation. I also have my plastic bags ready to go, and a new cheap pair of scissors, I read the plastic bags really do a number the scissors. Well keep looking for my posts from sunny Kiawah, and thanks for stopping by, Krista.

on another project.  I ordered my daughter’s other yarns for her sweater.  I also started the lopi sweater, I have to now wait for the other yarns to arrive to continue.  So I am working on my wrap as well, I am hoping to have that done by the end of next week, when we leave for Kiawah again.  I also have replenished my bag collection for a recycled bag.  I had mentioned my plans for making the plarn during the ride to Kiawah so I think I am on track with that.  I will post pictures of the lopi sweater once I get the other yarns in the mail.  I hope they arrive by Friday.  Thanks for stopping by, Krista.

I am sorry that I haven’t posted in so long.  The end of the school year seems to prove a scheduling nightmare for me.  This year, my daughter left preschool, had a little graduation performance.  She also had a ballet recital and a gymnastics exposition.  My husband left for California for a large portion of that, so I was on my own for those plus doctor’s appointments, dentists and everything else that goes along with wrapping up a school year.  Alright enough excuses, I have photos of the teacher gifts, they really seemed to like them, I hope so, I sure had fun making them with my daughter.  I also have been working on my wrap, its just about half way done.  I ordered the first 4 skeins of lopi for my daughters sweater, I wanted to order just the main color, its a very pale pink, but as you know over the Internet, it could look very different, I actually thought it was more of a lavender, I am happy that I only ordered the main color, now I can match the other skeins with more confidence.

As you can see the one side is the warm blanket side, that is the stripped side on one blanket.  The outside has my daughters hand prints on it and if you look you can see the pockets and zipper.

blankets all folded up, my son just wouldn't get out of the way!!

So here they are all zipped up and ready to be toted off to the big game or where ever they choose.  That is my son, he is now 13months old, I can’t believe it, when I started this blog he was 7 weeks old, my how time flies.  Thanks for stopping by, Krista
